( IRER )

Institute for Regional Economic Research (IRER) is an independent research organization, that have more than 25 years of experience in studying urban and regional socio-economic development in Russia.

The Institute conducts fundamental and applied studies in the field of regional and municipal economics, public finance, effective governance at regional and municipal levels, consulting federal, regional and municipal authorities, training highly qualified personnel to universities, research organizations, regional and local governments.

Among the Institute’s staff there are 6 full members of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, 15 Professors, 20 Doctors of Economic Science and 12 Candidates of Economic Science. IRER has extensive experience working with various federal and regional agencies, non-profit organizations and private-sector firms.

RESEARCH AREA & ECONOMIC STUDIES

● Analytical studies, audit, consulting in the regional, municipal social-economic program development, statistical and comparative analyses of urban and regional economy, inter-regional economic cooperation.
● Housing and public utilities regional programs, organizational and economic mechanisms for the implementation of the housing sector reforms, urban infrastructure, public transport and communication.
● Models of service industries sustainable development in the regions and cities of Russia, innovative business projects in the public service sector.
● Standards and regulatory framework for services technical regulation, standardization, certification and public services quality monitoring.
● Public financing standards for regional and municipal public services, consumer budgets of certain categories of the population.
● Comparative evaluation of the RF regions investment attractiveness, modeling and mechanisms for investment flows encourage to the regional and municipal economy, business valuation.
● Сonsulting on anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.
● Regional and municipal property management models, public-private partnership in regional economy, business development projects, monitoring and assessment of regional and municipal projects.
● Recommendations for regional budget monitoring, programs for efficient use of budgetary and extra-budgetary regional resources.

EXPERT CONSULTING ACTIVITY

The Institute for Regional Economic Research prepares analytical reports and expert’s research results to be presented to the federal, regional and municipal authorities of the Russian Federation. The Institute provides consultative services to municipal small and middle-sized business enterprises.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY

Since 1998 a Department for postgraduate education has been functioning in IRER, 26 Doctors of Economics and 135 Candidates of Economic Sciences got their degrees during 2000 - 2015.
